“Unsurprisingly, that figure contributes to significant employee turnover at childcare businesses. Jason Nitschke, Senior Childcare Business Advisor for early childhood policy group Zero to Five Montana, added out of an 743 annual job openings in childcare businesses across the state, 364 are caused by employee turnover.
“You get people into the early childhood education industry, but then they leave,” Nitschke said, adding later, “The compensation in this industry sucks… Wages have to go up so we can attract and retain workers.”
