What becomes possible when Montana’s early childhood community comes together?
The Montana Early Childhood Network’s inaugural in-person convening Many Partners, One System is happening this October!
Over two days, participants will connect with people who share a commitment to Montana’s young children and families, experience the Science of the Positive training by the Montana Institute, learn from one another and imagine a stronger, more connected early childhood system for Montana’s youngest children and their families.
Convening attendees will:
- Learn together through interactive sessions and presentations
- Build relationships with people working across communities and sectors
- Connect ideas to action through conversations around Montana’s early childhood strategic priorities
- Explore new perspectives on positive community development and collective impact
- Help shape the Network’s next steps through discussion and shared reflection
WHAT TO EXPECT
We’re excited to welcome Becky Franks with The Montana Institute for a four-hour Science of the Positive training on Oct. 5.
Becky brings more than a decade of experience in prevention, wellness, community development, and organizational leadership. Drawing on her work with communities, families, and youth, she brings a strengths-based perspective and a passion for building healthier, more connected communities.
During this interactive session, Becky will introduce participants to the Science of the Positive and explore how we can apply these ideas to our work, our organizations, and the communities we serve.
Day 2 of the Montana Early Childhood Network Convening will create space to explore exactly that.
We’ll begin the morning with connection and small-group conversations around Montana’s five early childhood strategic plan priorities, incorporating ideas from the Science of the Positive training.
From there, Susan Hay Patrick will lead us into a deeper conversation about collective impact—and what it takes to move from individual efforts to shared action.
We’ll also spend time exploring relationship and partnership building, before closing the day with Network updates and a conversation about where we go from here.

Working in partnership is a critical way to ensure diverse voices are heard and like-minded people, groups & organizations get connected to combine resources and manpower for work on a common goal.
A school district superintendent may want to work more directly with partners on a prekindergarten initiative, child care providers may want to join forces to speak with lawmakers about the importance of equitable employee pay or a parent may want to speak with someone from the Zero to Five Montana team to learn how they can join a coalition, network or get information on future events.
